Welcome to Pioneer Trail Kennel and Tree Farm

We have been involved with Labrador retrievers for the past 10 years and have been managing our land for the past 12 years. Our kennel is located in SE Ohio on 70 acres of hilly, wooded property. Our dogs are part of our family and spend their time with us, including daily hikes on the property and wading in the creeks.

Our first Labradors were from Field lines, and our neutered boy, Skippy, is from our last litter of field line Labradors.  I found however, that I much preferred the look, temperament and all purpose “usefulness” of the “bench/conformation” type Labrador. I wanted to continue my lines in that direction, while maintaining the natural ability to retrieve and work in the field. To that end, we now have Emilu.  We are a small hobby kennel, and will have only 1 or 2 planned litters a year as our family of Labradors expands. At this time we are working mostly with obedience and agility, but we have many exciting plans for expanding into the world of that wonderful dog – the Labrador Retriever.

 My goal as a breeder is to produce Labradors of excellent temperament and soundness, that meet AKC standards, with intelligence and desire to please, and have the ability to perform in the ring and the field as well as being the family companion.

 We are a Certified Tree Farm, and my husband spends almost every weekend working on the property, and improving the land. We are also proud to announce that we have just qualified to be a Certified Backyard Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
