Emilu and I got our first leg in Rally Advanced A, Feb.9th at the Toledo Kennel Club show. Our score was a 96 for first place. I’m so proud of my girl!

Skippy had surgery to shorten his tail yesterday. He has a very long, heavy tail (not lab standard by any means) that he uses to express his happiness - which is all the time. Over the past 2 years he has hit it so hard on wall, corners, cabinets, fencing, etc that it keeps opening up on the tip, resulting in our house looking like a CSI crime scene. I have had to come up with some pretty creative bandaging to keep it protected. We finally made the decision to have a portion of his tail amputated. His tail was 20 inches lond, and is now 8 inches long. He came home last evening and is doing fine. Hasn’t even looked at his tail. I hope he continues to heal well, and that this will solve the problem.

We are sad and disappointed that Emilu did not become pregnant from her fall breeding. We are weighing our options now, and might breed her again this spring. Meanwhile we are concentrating on training hard for entering into Rally Advanced and Novice Obedience classes
